  • Oral health is often considered a specialty that is separate from the body as a whole. But new research reveals that the health of the oral cavity can have wide-ranging effects on overall health. Poor oral health increases the risk for several systemic diseases such as diabetes, insulin resistance, pneumonia, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, complications of pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, atherosclerosis, heart attack and congestive heart failure, and coronary artery disease.
  • Communication Across Cultures.
    This is a three module workshop that provides knowledge concerning cross-cultural management and communication. It helps individuals to better understand and work more effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds. The first module is for demonstration.

  • Northern Speech Services.
    Northern Speech Services contracted to create a series of learning modules to train
    clinicians the application of therapeutic techniques for persons with dementia.

    The three workshops consist of 23 modules, pre-tests for each course, glossaries, forums and teaching guides. The instructional content is based on studies of persons with Alzheimer's disease, CVA, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and HIV infection.
